Hospital Partner Spotlight: Rush Uses New More Accurate Tests for Prostate Cancer

Our center’s hospital partner, Rush University Medical Center recently made headlines for being one of the first in the area to use a new, more accurate test for prostate cancer.

Instead of traditional biopsies that can cause pain and discomfort, physicians at Rush are using a new test that incorporates the use of advanced software that helps guide an ultrasound probe to potential problem sites on the prostate.

The new technology links together MRIs of the prostate with real-time images of an ultrasound, that acts similar to a GPS, to guide a probe directly to specific areas on the prostate.

More than 20 patients at Rush have undergone testing through this new procedure in the first seven weeks after it was introduced at the hospital. Read the full story here.
